VNA Racking
VNA Racking
VNA (very narrow aisle) racking is quickly becoming one of the most popular storage solutions for warehouses and distribution centres. This type of racking provides an efficient and cost-effective way to maximize space utilization in tight areas. With this type of racking, operators can access items from both sides while also reducing the amount of time spent on product retrieval and replenishment.
The most important factor in choosing the right aisle for your warehouse is to ensure that it is wide enough to accommodate the types of vehicles that will be using it. If you have forklifts or other powered industrial trucks, they will need a certain amount of space to manoeuvre. You should also take into account the height of your racks and shelves when deciding on an aisle width.
Ideal for
- Direct and instant access to all articles
- High speed storage and retrieval operation
- Optimum space utilization
The Different Types of Aisles in a Warehouse
There are four main types of aisles in a warehouse: pallet racks, drive-in racks, push-back racks, and cantilever racks. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages that make it more or less suitable for certain types of storage.
Pallet racks are the most common type of aisle in warehouse. They are made up of horizontal beams that support pallets of goods. Warehouse pallet in Dubai can be either opened or closed, but most warehouses use closed pallet racks to prevent items from falling off the shelves. Drive-in racks are similar to pallet racks, but they have deeper shelves that allow forklifts to drive into the rack to store or retrieve goods. Push-back racks have shelves that slope backwards, which allows pallets to be stored closer together. This maximizes space efficiency but can make it difficult to retrieve goods. Cantilever racks are made up of horizontal beams with vertical supports on one side. They are often used to store long or bulky items such as pipes or lumber.
The Pros and Cons of Wide vs. Narrow Aisles
There are two main types of VNA racking systems – wide aisle and narrow aisle. Both have their pros and cons, so it’s important to choose the right type for your needs.
Wide aisle VNA racking is best for high-density storage. It offers more space per pallet, so you can store more products in the same amount of space. Wide aisle VNA racking is also easier to access, so it’s a good choice if you need to frequently retrieve products from storage.
However, wide aisle VNA racking is more expensive than narrow aisle VNA racking. It also requires more space, so it may not be a good choice if you have limited warehouse space.
Narrow aisle VNA racking is best for low-density storage. It offers less space per pallet, but this can be offset by using taller racks. Narrow aisle VNA racks are also more compact, so they take up less space in your warehouse.
The main downside of narrow aisle VNA racks is that they’re harder to access than wide aisle racks. This means that you may need to use a forklift or other lifting device to retrieve the product from storage.
